The Tudors Fan

I’m Sorry

July 9th, 2010

So, The Tudors is over. It really sucks. I was going to write a rant on how fucking bad the final episode is, but you know what, it is what it is. They really couldn’t do anything exciting with Henry’s condition the way it was. But why didn’t they show his death? What a load of shit.

Anyways, over the summer my updating shall be minimum. I have a job, in the technology field actually, if you believe that seeing as I’m 18, haha.

Cheers :)

Episode 8

June 7th, 2010

I just finished watching episode eight… I don’t know what to say really. For one of the three last episodes, I expected much better. I just felt that it was all over the place, and no conclusions were really drawn. Even Henry’s ‘victory’ in Bologne was left open for conflict. Anyways, to further my opinion, here’s a list of things that just felt ambiguous and will hopefully be discussed in the last two episodes:

  • Bishop Gardiner’s conflict with Catherine Parr
  • Brandon’s random new French mistress
  • Eustace Chapuys. I’m guessing this was his last appearance, but I thought for sure his goodbye with Mary would be more tear-jerking.
  • Bologne
  • and the last and most obvious.. What happened to Henry?

Oh, by the way, the last episode of the Tudors ever is on my birthday… Just sayin’.

Finally, Let Us War!

May 25th, 2010

So, it seems correct to say that the last three episodes of the Tudors will be spent on Henry’s final excursion into the battle fields. How do we feel about this? To me, it feels a little weird to change the setting completely for the final episodes. We’ve only had a very small taste of war throughout the series, and I may even be confusing the scenes in my head with Elizabeth the Golden Age. Either way, there was plenty of talk, but we’ve never seen Henry like this.

Maybe, I’m being cynical. Maybe this is a really good thing. After talking and talking of going to war with either France or Spain, finally Henry has chosen which side he wants to be on. It’s like a lose end has finally been tied. The last episodes get to be filled with courageousness, honour and the rawness of war in the 1500′s. It’s interesting to see the plans and tactics of the military leaders using the tools accessible at the time. I am also especially liking seeing Suffolk finally growing up and taking on such an important role. He finally seems like  a mature adult, who should be feared.

But enough about war, let’s talk Catherine Parr, shall we? Such a romantic wedding, a betrothal after just a few meetings and whole lot of unrequited love. But who am I to say Henry even loves her? He doesn’t seem very interested.. I just think he feels he needs a wife to complete his life, and Catherine Parr was a very sensible choice. Although, of course there would have been more sensible choices, those that would have secured political balance with other countries. In any case, their marriage seems rushed and undeveloped. Safe to say, I’m not a fan. But hey, I only have to live with it for three episodes right?

You know who I was hoping would return? Phillip of Bavaria. The episode he was in has got to be one of my favourites, and even though there’s little information on this guy historically, they say he courted Princess Mary twice. Why didn’t they bring him back? Because it would make me too happy? Yeah, pretty much.

Well, that’s pretty much all I have to say about this weeks episode. It was pretty enjoyable getting out of court life for a while. I always like episodes that take place out of court. It’s like a field trip.

So, I know there haven’t been many gallery updates or anything lately but I’m going to try my best. My grad weekend was this weekend (it was great, thanks for asking) but my laptop was unfortunately a casualty of war (it got beer spilled on it at a party). Long story short, I have a warranty but I’m going to be laptopless for a week or so. Beyond that, I have final exams coming up that need to be studied for, and a shit load of course work to finish up on so I can pass high school! Haha.

So peace out for now, I’ll update when I can!

Episode 6 Tonight!

May 16th, 2010

Just a friendly reminder to tune in to Showtime tonight and watch episode 6! It’s sure to be interesting, and I’m banking that Catherine Parr will probably make her debut appearance. ;)
